Exploring the Wisdom of God

All Bible quotations are from the New American Standard Bible unless stated otherwise.

Welcome to eyesalveandgold.com, a personal blog site where I will post my exploration of truth, knowledge, and the wisdom of God through the study of His Word, the Bible. There are three reasons for embarking on this journey. First, a greater understanding of the 3rd angel’s message in Revelation 14:9-12, a message of righteousness by faith. Second, it was during this research that I came across the concept of “the Wisdom of God”, mentioned in 1 Cor 1:24, and desired to explore this concept further. And third, in my desire for a closer walk with my savior, Jesus Christ, I desired a greater knowledge of Him, and a deeper understanding of His word.

Some may ask, why attempt such a study? Who can understand and know the wisdom of God? Surely it is not meant for us to understand God and His ways, as Paul stated in Romans 11:33,

Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgements and unfathomable His ways!

Who can understand the righteousness of God? We are sinful beings, born in sin, surely this is not possible. After all, God stated through the prophet Isaiah,

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord’.

                                                               Isaiah 55:8

So then, why bother with such a search at all? While the statement by God above is most definitely true, when I read the Bible, I come across text after text indicating that God really desires for me to come to a fullness of knowledge in Him and a closer relationship with Him.

“Make your ear attentive to wisdom, incline your heart to understanding; for if you cry for discernment, Lift your voice for understanding; If you seek her as silver and search for her as for hidden treasures; then you will discern the fear of the Lord and discover the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.”

                                                          Proverbs 2:2-6

This tells me that if we ask the Lord for understanding and discernment, and open His word and search diligently, then we will be given discernment and a greater understanding of the fear of the Lord, the knowledge of God, and the wisdom of God. To me, that is exciting and something I want to be a part of. God wants us to understand and know Him. Obviously, we should not dare to think we can know all that God knows, but we can “know” God by studying His word, His Son Jesus Christ.

What an honor it is for us mere humans, that we can learn of the wisdom of God. Did you catch the phrase “the fear of the Lord”? Just what is the fear of the Lord? This is a phrase we will explore further, for we cannot understand the wisdom of God before understanding the fear of God, as stated in Proverbs,

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge;”

                                                                                               Proverbs 1:7

Before opening your Bible, pray for the Holy Spirit to open the eyes of your heart to wisdom and understanding to place yourself in a proper position before your God and Creator.
